About Department

The Department of Biotechnology came into existence under the P. G. Dept. of Botany in 2005 and then shifted to P.G. Dept of Zoology. The department is housed in a newly constructed building consisting of classrooms with audio-visual facilities and well-equipped research laboratories. All the basic infrastructural facilities needed for conducting teaching and research programs in different areas of Biotechnology have been developed in the department. Recently, the Department has also adapted choice based curriculum based on DBT model syllabus to impart theoretical and practical knowledge to the students in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genetic Engineering, Emerging Technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Bio-techniques, Enzyme Technology, Bioprocess Technology, Immunology, Environmental Biotechnology, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.

Programme

M.Sc Biotechnology is 2years course programme with 20 seats, which constitutes 4 Semesters of 6 months duration each. There is mid-semester examination for each theory paper and at the end of each semester there is End-semester examination.

How to Enter into the Course Programme

Students’ intake is made strictly on merit basis taking the career and the marks secured in the qualifying examination into consideration.

Class Schedule
